Hello & welcome new subscribers!
Thursday was Thanksgiving here in the US, and all the sparkle has fallen to the ground.
My friends and family packed their refrigerators, drove to unique locations, and cooked ungodly amounts of food, and now - they’re over it.
“My kids can fend for themselves for the next week!” - My friend said.
Thanksgiving takes a ridiculous amount of work. That’s part of the reason I ditched the tradition years ago. Working in retail, I didn’t have the energy to spend ten hours on my one day off cooking food that I was only marginally excited to eat.
Turkey sandwich? Yes!
Entire turkey roasting in the oven for six hours? Not so much. I can’t deal with all the leftovers - there are only two of us!
Mashed potatoes sound great but not for the following four meals.
This year, we made pumpkin ravioli with a brown butter sauce and binge-watched Netflix.
Today I’ll eat pumpkin pie for breakfast.
Next week, I’ll throw in a salad. It’s all about balance.
Holidays can be downright crazy so go easy on yourself. Juggling the demands of work, family, travel, and special meals is a shit ton of work, and you’re doing great.
Have pie for breakfast with your coffee. Throw some whipped cream on top while you’re at it.
Sleep in.
Watch a silly TV show.
Read a book.
Enjoy a tiny bit of solace wherever you can find it.
I’m keeping this edition short today because I know we’re all tired.
Enjoy the weekend. Put your feet up and pet your pets. Until next time.
Peace,
Kit

We all so need this "let it be" support during the holidays!! Perfect! Thanks!
100% yes to this.
Working in aviation has always meant working on T-day. Anymore, it's a good excuse to not deal with any of the "work" surrounding the holiday (hosting, cooking, etc.).
