Hey -
I’m still mostly in surrender mode but I was up late last night and wanted to share something cool with you.
On this trip to Seattle, we wanted to check out Olympic National Park. This is feasible, but it requires a very early morning, a ferry ride, and a 2-3 hour drive - each way.
We set our alarm for 4am, grabbed our backpacks, and off we went.
After many cups of coffee, we finally reached our hiking destination, and we were in awe. The Sol Duc Falls hike looks like another planet. It makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale.
This old-growth forest is damp. Towering trees are blanketed with thick moss. The lightest dusting of snow was barely visible, about to melt in the warming morning.
The easy hike winds through this dream-like forest for about a mile. It takes you over footbridges and a few small waterfalls until you get to the big, main attraction waterfall.
Some people ran up, but I strolled, taking it all in.
I left that hike so mellowed.
Being in nature screws your head back on straight. You forget about your worries, and you wind up better off every time. I know this, and I still don’t practice it enough.
Have a beautiful weekend. I’ll see you here next week for our regularly scheduled programming.
Peace,
Kit
Your description of it reminds me of a spot north of the Seattle border in BC. It's the hiking trail leading to Bridal Falls. It felt like Narnia in there with all the mossy, giant trees!
I'm convinced that a walk through the Olympics, Cascades, or Columbia River Gorge will cure just about anything. I miss them a lot. Thanks for taking me back there for a few minutes!
