Hey,
So, my dog started this new thing where he barks when I run the washing machine. He’s loud too - as loud as his little 38-pound frame can muster.
This is not a new washing machine; I’ve been washing my clothes in it the same way for the last six years.
I don’t know what his deal is. I can’t figure it out.
He really doesn’t like it. He is sitting here right now lowly growling, trying to contain a bark. He knows as soon as he barks, he’ll get an “Ah! Quiet!” from me, and he doesn’t want that.
Sigh.
Sometimes getting this newsletter written is more challenging than you may think. The dog barks, the house gets dirty, and just when I get it all sorted, I sit down to write, and my neighbors decide to mow their lawn.
Okay, well, moving on. It’s all we can do.
In the United States, kids are celebrating their last few days of summer before they pack up their books and head back to school.
Working retail, I actually enjoyed the back-to-school rush. It was fun to chat with the kids about which backpack they wanted and what grade they were headed into. I’ve spent hours pulling bags down to show people.
If they were really indecisive, I would grab a binder we used for work and model it in the backpack so they could see how much room the backpack had. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’re looking at an empty bag.
Ah, the retail days.
Nothing stands out on the holiday scene this week, so please enjoy these more minor holidays that I thought were quite funny.
August is officially “Admit You’re Happy Month,” which I find hilarious. I guess it was started as a way for people to celebrate things that make them happy. Maybe they should’ve hired a copywriter or a marketer to help them with the branding.
“Admit you’re happy” sounds like an order from your commanding officer.
The month of August also includes -
Dog Days of Summer July 3rd-August 11th (I’m feeling this one)
National Catfish Month
National Eye Exam Month (wait, I do need this)
National Picnic Month
Peach Month (Oh, I’m game!)
If none of those light your fire, there are a few days I’ll highlight below.
August 4th - National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day (Yes, please)
August 5th - International Beer Day (You don’t have to tell me twice)
August 6th - Campfire Day (Score!)
August 6th is also International Hangover Day, but that sounds like no fun at all (would not recommend).
Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it’s somewhat restful. Whether you decide to eat a chocolate chip cookie, have a campfire, drink a beer, or none of the above, I hope it’s exactly where you want to be.
Pour your favorite drink, pet your pets, and rest when you can. Until next time.
Peace,
Kit
What a delightful combinations of things!!! I'm going to have to admit I'm happy! Wasn't expecting to do that today. : )
