Many countries have similar celebrations during holidays.
It’s been fascinating doing this research and getting a small window into how the humans of the world celebrate life.
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8th, here in the US.
My inbox is bombarded with gift ideas and reminders about Mother’s Day every year.
“I know!” I see it on the calendar already! I want to shout at every company.
Alright, anyway, as I looked into Mother’s Day around the world, Peru really stood out as a front runner in partying.
They celebrate Mother’s Day for a week before the day, and they also head to the cemetery on Mother’s Day to honor all the women in their lives that have passed. The gravesites are tidied up and freshly decorated.
After this, they share food and drink together at the gravesite.
I really love this tradition. It reminds me of Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebration, where people honor their loved ones who have passed away.
There’s nothing in America that quite compares to this. Not culturally, anyway. Religions may have their own rituals, but celebrations of life aren’t the norm like this.
It’s important. Honoring loved ones in your life that are no longer with you allows you to heal. Doing it with friends and family can make us feel loved and more connected.
Whether you’re celebrating Mother’s Day or not (because that is a-okay too), I hope it’s lovely.
What’s Up
On Sunday, my computer died. Like, totally dead. As the battery waned, I rushed to get to my charger. I connected it - clink- and nothing. What? I tried everything. My husband tried to work his computer magic, but no luck. It was dead and would not charge.
I hauled it into the Apple Store, and they sent it away.
Luckily I could borrow my husband’s laptop while mine was gone.
I got it back a few days and several hundred dollars later. I think I only lost some spreadsheets that I can re-create. It’s going to suck to redo them but, what can you do?
This is your friendly reminder to back up your computer or store your important stuff in the cloud.

The cryptocurrency website I write for has taken a new direction into a crypto lifestyle magazine. The new site is clean and elevated.
Last month, I interviewed Andrea Shaw, CEO of bitFlyer US. bitFlyer is a cryptocurrency exchange based in Japan. They are expanding US operations. The article took about a month of writing and edits before it was cleared for publication.
It was recently released, and I was thrilled to finally see it published with some beautiful and compelling art.

Have a great weekend, friends. Celebrate this weekend or don’t. Do whatever makes you feel happy and rested. Pour your favorite drink. Pet your pets and take in some fresh air.
Until next time -
Peace,
